When colour wins over tradition…
Red is definitely unmistakably recognised as the colour of love. It has always been my favourite colour for a reason; it’s beautiful, majestic and passionate. That’s why I never understood why a bride has to go “white” on her wedding day...especially when she can wear red!
Despite traditions, red has recently become a very popular colour for a wedding dress. Always more brides decide to take distance from the white dress that originally used to symbolize virginity to embrace the boldness of the red colour.
Brides tend to think of the white wedding dress as a given, but it doesn’t have to be at all. You don’t necessarily have to follow the tradition of Queen Victoria, if you don’t want to. So if you’re easing into the idea of a coloured gown, red is a good way to distinguish yourself and be original on the most important day of your life.
There is no such thing as an old-school rule. If you wanna be a really cool bride, stop caring about what people think and wear a dress you like, no matter which colour it is. If a gown looks beautiful and you feel perfectly comfortable with wearing something that is not white, then go ahead.
Shopping for your bridal dress is definitely one of the most important tasks for a bride-to-be. It takes time and patience to find the right one for you but in the end it is going to be worth it. And if you don’t fancy going entirely red on your wedding, why not opt for a block of colour? It is certainly going to turn heads. For all the right reasons, of course.
