Our top picks of bohemian style wedding venues for 2015. From the popular choices to the less conventional, there’s a venue for everyone!
If you're anything like me, you will know what style wedding venue you want- it's whimsical, it's bohemian, it's rustic, natural, vintage... It's all of these wonderful styles wrapped into one venue!
My favourite venues are those that are a little alternative- perhaps they're not even wedding venues, maybe they're a working farm! But if you have that all important 'vision', even the rustiest cow shed could be your beautiful wedding venue.
P.s. Remember, your venue needs a Civil Ceremony license. If you choose a venue without a Civil Ceremony license, you could have a Humanist Ceremony instead and get legally married and sign the papers at an earlier or later date. Don't panic, where there's a will, there's usually a way!
Without further ado, here are the top 5 boho wedding venues:
A huge bell tent, a yurt, or a Chinese hat marquee- all of these offer the amazing triangular roof many people love! Admittedly, a yurt would be my first choice as it offers the most cover from any showers and they’re incredibly insulated, so even in winter they are suitable. Their cultural feel and bohemian vibe make them a top choice of venue- check out Hooe’s Yurts to see their wedding yurt!
Farm Cow Shed
See, I wasn't joking!
I love rusty, old cow sheds (without the cows, obviously! Unless you really like cows). The shabbier and more rustic, the better. Maybe don’t choose one that’s been used recently, I hear the smell is pretty difficult to get rid of. But a cow shed is certainly an affordable option and will have plenty of room for activities. High ceilings, floor space, open plan and waterproofWhat more could you ask for, eh?
A hugely popular choice for couples in recent years, it’s easy to see the appeal of a converted barn like Glangrwyney Court in the Brecon Beacons. With masses of character, barns offer a rural setting and the very popular appearance of exposed brickwork, beams and rustic wooden features. Converted barns will be among the top wedding venues chosen by couples in 2015- will you be one of them?
A cabin in the woods- no, it’s not the beginning of a horror film, it’s a beautiful boho option for your wedding! Just imagine it:
Fairy lights leading your guests through the woodland to a lovely log cabin. Wood burner aflame, mulled wine and some cosy fur throws- it would definitely suit a seasonal wedding.
It’s as close as you can get to nature without having to freeze outdoors (UK weather- it’s unpredictable to say the least, even in summer!). Get the lovely outdoor atmosphere, without the weather worry, in a greenhouse. Barbican Conservatory is a brilliant London venue, offering weddings in their ‘tropical oasis’ within the heart of the capital city. You’ll feel like you’re somewhere exotic, without the plane journey- win, win!
