Key things to know when moving in with your partner
There is no sure way of knowing when the time is right to move in with your partner. For some, this happens before marriage, for others this happens just after. Regardless of when you choose to take the plunge there are a few things you’ll need to know to make the course run a little smoother.
Do Your Décor
Work on your interiors together. If you do things as a team there’s no reason for either party to feel underrepresented. Combine styles that you both like and use a series of neutral tones so that your home is neither masculine nor feminine.
Divide and Conquer
Once you’ve moved in create a schedule for the housework so that the responsibility does not fall on either one of you. Many people face issues after moving in because they feel as though their partner does not pull their weight. Avoid this by working as a team.
This should ideally happen before you move in as it is very important to discuss finances and who will be responsible for paying certain bills. Maybe you’ll divide everything equally or take responsibility for certain bills. However you choose to do it just ensure it gets done.
The Door Marked Private
While moving in involves combining your lives it is also important for you both to take time for yourselves. This might be ensuring you get out of the house and spend time with friends or just establish some alone time.
Moving in is all about compromises and adapting to suit each other’s needs. Should you have any troubles it is important to discuss them and face any issues head on.
