Here are some tips on how to get rid of your wedding gown
The ceremony is over.
The party is finished.
All the guests have gone home.
And one or two months later, what’s still there (apart from all the good memories)?
Your wedding dress, obviously. It’s something you’ve spent a large amount of money on, and went through a great deal of trouble to find the perfect one- even if you’re not going to wear it again. Unless you decide to save your wedding dress for sentimental reasons, you don’t want to let it sit in your closet collecting dust, right?
So why not try selling your wedding dress?
Many brides find that selling their gown is a simple and quick way to get some money and put it toward a honeymoon, for example. A used gown in great condition and less than 2 years old can sell for 50 percent of retail price. And it doesn’t need to be from recognisable names like Vera Wang or Monique Lhullier, there is always a way to recycle your dress!
The quickest place to sell your wedding dress is online.
If you sell the dress within 2 years of buying it, you’ll increase the chances of selling it while the style of the dress is still in fashion. You could maximise the value of the dress by having professionally cleaned. Also, don’t be discouraged if your dress is from the 80’s or 90’s because those dresses are now considered vintage.
There are a lot of people trying to sell their dresses online, so it might be difficult to get a response straight away as this market seems to be quite competitive.
However, keep trying. If you don’t get a response straight away, post new pictures, add photos with more details or flattering angles. I promise, somebody will soon be interested in buying your dress. Somebody who might as well be selling it, after getting married themselves.
