How to choose the right date in which to get married.
Choosing a wedding date is one of the most important and difficult planning decisions that you’ll have to make as a couple. It will impact every other aspect of your big day. You have to try to fit together all the different elements to consider: the flowers, the season, the warmth of summer, the coziness of autumn or a winter wonderland wedding? And most of all, which day of the week do you want to get married in?
You may have to make some hard choices and prioritize your different desires. Of course there is no right or wrong date for you to get married.
Or maybe there is. Auspicious wedding dates refer to lucky times to get married, a superstitious held by many people throughout all time.
Some say “A January bride will be a prudent housekeeper, and very good tempered.”. Others tend to say “A February bride will be an affectionate wife and a tender mother.” And for those of you who dream about a summer wedding, “A July bride will be handsome, but a trifle quick-tempered.” According to Chinese and Hindu cultures, auspicious days may also be chosen for the dates of engagement.
According to an old popular saying, lucky days of the week to get married are: “Monday for wealth, Tuesday for health and Wednesday the best day of all.
According to many cultures, the month of May is considered the most unaspicious month in which to get married, mostly because in Pagan times, the start of summer was when the Festival of Beltane was celebrated with outdoor origies. This was therfore considered a bad time to get married and start a married life. This advice was taken more seriously during the Victorian age than it is today.
According to the Chinese culture, the best way to determine an auspicious date to get married starts with calculating the espoused’s Zodiac animal sign, distinguished by their respective year of birth. The couple should not get married in a year of the animal with which theirs conflict. Even Scottish culture consider May an unlucky month, in particular May 3rd. On the other hand, January 1st is the luckiest day of the year for any new experience because it is related to the start of the new year. Among the ancinet Romans, the month of June was particularly auspicious, since it was related to the Goddess Juno. A full or new moon was also to be preferred, when getting married.
Finally, Moroccan culture doesn’t have any specific dates that are lucky. However, the consummation of the wedding is best done on Thursday evening. Nobody knows why…
Superstitions can be a funny thing, but it should never interfere with your decisions and personal choices, so if you want to get married, anytime is a good time, as long as there you have a loving and caring partner on your side.
