Some say “A January bride will be a prudent housekeeper, and very good tempered.”. Others tend to say “A February bride will be an affectionate wife and a tender mother.” And for those of you who dream about a summer wedding, “A July bride will be handsome, but a trifle quick-tempered.” According to Chinese and Hindu cultures, auspicious days may also be chosen for the dates of engagement.

According to an old popular saying, lucky days of the week to get married are: “Monday for wealth, Tuesday for health and Wednesday the best day of all.

According to many cultures, the month of May is considered the most unaspicious month in which to get married, mostly because in Pagan times, the start of summer was when the Festival of Beltane was celebrated with outdoor origies. This was therfore considered a bad time to get married and start a married life. This advice was taken more seriously during the Victorian age than it is today.

The couple should not get married in a year of the animal with which theirs conflict. Even Scottish culture consider May an unlucky month, in particular May 3rd. On the other hand, January 1st is the luckiest day of the year for any new experience because it is related to the start of the new year.
