5 Skin Care Tips for the Groom

Because it’s Your wedding too!

With the rise of the metrosexual man, men’s grooming has become commonplace. It is not unusual for men to have their own spa days, meticulously style their hair or even have their nails manicured. So for all of you well-groomed men out there, we’ve compiled a list of the top 5 tips to get your skin looking as radiant as the bride’s.

1. Know your skin type.

In order to stock up on the right products, it is important to be able to identify what type of skin you have. You could visit a dermatologist to help you with this, but it’s mostly common sense. Do you have shiny, oily skin prone to spots? Is your skin dry and flaking? Perhaps you have a combination of both or maybe you’re even one of the lucky ones with “normal” skin. Whatever skin type you have, there is a product out there suitable for you.

2. Start a daily skin care regime.

You’ll be familiar with a daily training regime, but perhaps not one relating to skin care. Trust us; it is just as important. Consistent attention to your skin’s needs will ensure that it’s looking it’s best. It may sound like it’s a lot of work, but it’s really not all that difficult. Cleansing, toning and moisturising are the most important components of an effective skin care regime. If you have particularly dry skin then moisturising daily is going to be extremely important- and if you work outdoors then be sure to be applying sunblock. Oily skin should be treated with an astringent to clean the pores and prevent breakouts. Don’t forget, whatever your skin type, wash your face daily to reduce the amount of grime that will penetrate your skin.

3. Eat right and get plenty of sleep.

Ever heard the phrase; you are what you eat? This is particularly apt when it comes to your skin. Ditch oily and greasy foods and make sure your fridge is stocked with lots of lovely fruit and veggies. Salmon, Olive oil, Green Tea and Carrots are great foods if healthy looking skin is your aim. Make sure you get enough of these in your diet and you’ll be amazed at the results.

I shouldn’t have to tell you this, but you really need to ditch the cigarettes. As well as causing a whole host of health problems they can seriously dry out your skin, unfortunately the same goes for alcohol.

Getting at least 8 hours of sleep a day will work wonders on any dark circles or eye-bags that you find forming, not only that but your skin will look more radiant over all.

4. Treat yourself to a spa day.

No doubt that your bride to be has known the secret of a good spa day for a long time- it’s high time you got clued in too. Try out an exfoliation treatment to rid you of any excess dry or dead skin; it’ll also unclog your pores in way that you wouldn’t be able to manage by yourself at home. A massage might not be your first choice when it comes to tackling your skin, but it will ease you of any pre-wedding stress and a stress-less face is a glowing face!

5. Be soap savvy.

Using regular soap can undo all of your hard work when it comes to skin care. Make sure that you are using a soap that is compatible with your skin type. For dry skin you will need a soap with added moisturisers so that it doesn’t dry out your skin even further; while carbolic soaps work a treat on oily skin.

So there you have it. It’s really not that hard is it fellas? For those of you who might not yet be buying into all of this metrosexual lark, why not send your bride-to-be on a skin care product buying mission and then try out what she finds in the privacy of your own bathroom. Honestly; you will be converted.
